No it’s not an aged cheese but soap….

    Community

Something we have become extremely familiar with over this past month of Lock Down. So I decided to remind you of how long this essential item has been around and who were the first to use this.
The first concrete evidence we have of soap-like substance is dated around 2800 BC., the first soap makers were Babylonians, Mesopotamians, Egyptians, as well as the ancient Greeks and Romans. All of them made soap by mixing fat, oils and salts. Soap wasn’t made and use for bathing and personal hygiene but was rather produced for cleaning cooking utensils or goods or was used for medicinal purposes. The name “soap” is derived from the fictional Mount Sapo, which is mentioned in an ancient Roman legend.
4,800 years later we rely on this ancient substance for what you could say is still ‘medicinal purposes’. Lather up everyone and enjoy the action!
