Linking in with World Iron Awareness we all think of red meat and green leaf vegetables. Facey terms = Haem iron which is found in red meats and non-haem which is not only found in animal sources but plant sources. The link to vegetables with all of this is Vitamin C which enhances the absorption of non-haem iron. Now switching to vegetables that are high in Vitamin C – Broccoli, Capsicums, Brussel sprouts and would you believe Radishes. That’s what surprised me.
Those humble radishes are always available from our producers at the market.
